A Newfoundland Based Relationship Therapist with 20 Years’ Experience

Denise Sargeant

Over 20 years of facilitating growth and wellbeing in others has equipped me to provide a wide range of counselling services to individuals, couples, and families as a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist  and a Canadian Certified Counsellor.  My passion is helping couples reconnect,  build strong relationships or work through challenging issues as well as  supporting individuals who have experienced painful or traumtic life events.  In addition to my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I have completed Level 1 training in EMDR therapy, a Sex Therapy Intensive Program, as well as a 3 year Diploma in Naturopathy to equip me for this work.

My practice is deeply rooted in creating a safe, trusting and respectful therapeutic environment. Clients appreciate the warm, calm, compassionate presence I bring to my work. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches that are tailored to the unique needs of each client and situation. My rigorous training and ongoing learning has prepared me to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Having worked in the community, as well as in my own private practice, my peers have come to know me as a capable and caring therapist who is deeply committed to my clients and to my own growth and development as a lifelong learner.

I believe a trusting relationship between therapist and client is central to successful therapy and I work hard to build this relationship with each client. I admire the courage it takes for people to come to therapy. I do my best to honour the whole person (body, mind, spirit and emotional being) when clients allow me to share in their story. Exploring spirituality is an important part of my work with many clients.
